A big Diva welcome to all my Zentangly friends! Welcome to the very first weekly challenge. I can't tell you how excited i am to see how this will all pan out....but i have high hopes! :D
Can you believe that it's already the week before Christmas? Five more days!
With all the craziness of my life the past few months, i can hardly believe that it's already here. With the birth of my second son and his 40 day stay at the hospital, it's been a crazy hectic whirl wind - and then there was some added family drama, add to that a 2 1/2 year old who is just a ball of energy.
I love Christmas, i love decorating and getting out the Christmas music and going to parties and taking in Handle's Messiah - and here i am, the week of Christmas with my tree just barely up, Christmas baking somewhat done and mostly eaten (yipes), i had to make the executive decision to NOT send out Christmas cards this year, i have a closet full of presents that are yet to be wrapped and gifts still to be purchased and/or made.
What i really need right now is to simplify.
That's why the very first weekly challenge in this game is:
simplicity
How does this word speak to you, and how do you translate it into Zentangle®? Do you simplify your string? Simplify your pattern? Your shading?
If you have a blog, add the URL where your tile is posted to the linkey machine below! Don't forget to link back here so that others can join in the fun!
If you don't have a blog but still want to participate, you can email your tile to me and i will post it here. (See the contact tab above for my email address)
Good Luck everyone! Happy Tangling!
Laura
I love this challenge. And I love your tile! Today I will sit with some simplicity and see what happens! Thanks, Laura.
ReplyDeletesounds like fun!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Laura, for this great challenge – I couldn´t resist starting immediately as a picture arose instantly…
ReplyDeleteHow thrilling it will be to see all the ZTs of 'simplicity'.
Love your tile!!
will try this tonight! What a great idea!
ReplyDeleteSimplicity is perfect for such a crazy week! I will find time to Zentangle amid the travel and the visiting. It will bring balance I'm sure. Love your tile, and this challenge idea. Have a great Christmas... you've covered all the important things!
ReplyDeleteI'm in. How haunting is your Escheresque tile decked out in all it's simplicity....... a nice way to entice your followers. Well done. Big hugs to Ozzie, too. Maria
ReplyDeleteThanks Laura. I like how easy you made this! 'Simplicity' rocks.
ReplyDeleteThanks Laura for putting this together. I just posted mine. I look forward to the weeks ahead.
ReplyDeleteThanks Laura - proved to be a bit "challenging" and fun too. Can't wait to see what the next one brings.
ReplyDeleteHi Laura,
ReplyDeleteLove your tangle and thanks for setting up this challenge. Mine is a bit rough due to being sick but I still wanted to participate.
Hi Laura...again.
ReplyDeleteI had some problems with my last 'LC' upload. Are you able to delete No. 6. I've resubmitted my piece at No. 7 'Melissa'.
Sorry!
This was a fun challenge and your are right - this time of year all you want is simple! Thanks for the challenge and can't wait for more! Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteWith an addiction this good I can't pass by and not join in! Great idea!
ReplyDeleteI'm off to start right away! This is a really good idea. I find it hard to keep things simple. I always have to embellish something within an inch of its life!!
ReplyDeleteThis will be good ...can't wait to see what I do with this- or NOT do in my case!
This is a real challenge for me. Simplicity is NOT my middle name (I'm with Judy, above). Thanks! Looking forward to the next one.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea , thanks, I'm definitely in :)
ReplyDeleteYay, Laura, for inspiring us all to join in weekly challenge fun with you. What an enthusiastic community to be a part of! Doing this tile was simply the best fun I had all day. (And it's already one of my all time faves!) I can't decide now if I eventually want to go back to it with the pencil and shade it (which is why I haven't put my chop on it yet). I'll decide tomorrow... or next year. It really doesn't matter - I'll know what to do when I'm ready to know. (How very Zen!) Namaste, Kit
ReplyDeleteI found a tangle that I had created about a year ago that I thought fits into this challenge.
ReplyDeleteLaura, thanks for starting this challenge. I just posted my own take on "simplicity". I love all the contributions!
ReplyDeleteDear Diva,
ReplyDeleteI have left a post here a couple of times but it doesn't show up here. I hope you did get the tangle I sent.
I love it that you started this challange.

ReplyDeleteI am enjoying looking at all the submissions--real treat!
ReplyDeleteHey Laura... there's a wonderful 'side effect' of this challenge - I'm discovering the Blog pages of all my favourite tanglers! Friends from Flickr and Facebook. So far I've subscribed to at least ten new blogs. How wonderful! It feels like there are tangle strings reaching out from your Weekly Challenge that are knitting us all together. Hugs and many, many thanks!! Kit
ReplyDeleteHi byrd,
ReplyDeletei can get to your blog from the link you posted, but i don't see a specific post for the challenge. Be sure you're posting the site-specific URL for the post where you show your contribution.
or - If you like you can email your tile.
Hi Laura,
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for organizing this challenge and opening it up to ALL! It was quite a lesson for self to spend time reflecting on "simplicity". Happy Holidays!

ReplyDeleteWhat a great way to start the new year. I'm looking forward to this weekly challenge. It's a great opportunity to get exposure to other zentangle enthusiasts. Thanks for the opportunity... Count me in!
ReplyDeleteWhat size are the tiles supposed to be? :oD
ReplyDeleteI think I may have an idea of Simplicity using one of my own Tangle Patterns I created.
ReplyDeleteI posted my 4 weekly Challenges in my blog and on flickr.

Love the challenges. I'm starting them a bit behind, and it took me all weekend to simplify my thoughts enough to draw this one. Hope you all like it!
ReplyDeleteI posted 1-4 in the same post...because I too just found this little corner of zen-arific heaven. In fact, I just found out about Zentangles this week! And haven't put my pen down yet.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the inspiration, and just the medium that I need to get past the procrastinating protectionist in me.
It took me some time, but now I made a zentangle for this week too. I wrote about it in the same post as week 6, but thought it would be good to leave a link here too.
ReplyDeletei'm so late to the party as i just discovered the challenges, so i'm playing catch up! i added my link above for week 1.
ReplyDeleteHi, I'm a little late to the Challenge (13 weeks or so behind :D)
ReplyDeleteLove the challenges... You'll be seeing more of me!
Here is my Challenge #1. I am having fun "catching up" Thank you!
ReplyDeleteHi, I just started with the weekly challenges, so I started at the beginning. First of all simplicity for me in the size. I normally make my drawings on at least A4-size paper. Now on a postcard. I simplified my pattern. And there it came... a spider, symbol for me of simply living as a human being, What is simplicity? 'Just', simply, living in a human body with human senses!
ReplyDeleteSo very earthy. In daily live I'm very busy with spiritual matters! With both feet firmly remain on Earth! Spirituality means to me see the humanity in a larger perspective, and thus the reason of existence as a human being, just like that one (wo)man, to understand, so you can act purposefully. It remains aware of all human experiences, working in the garden with the hands in the Earth, nice walking with our dog, enjoying simple things that also agree not geared to productivity ... just enjoy!
Thank you Diva for this weekly challenge! I'll do more of them in the future, I'm sure...
I've found this and I've gotten started on these. I'm enjoying myself. :)

Thanks for all the work you put into these, and then posting for all of us! Congrats on your #100 weekly challenge!
ReplyDeleteLate bloomer here... just started tangling and thank you so much for the challenges! Will do some of the old challenges randomly before I participate in the more recent ones. :)
ReplyDelete1st time getting into Zentangle, I enjoy seeing your challenges, and I hope that I am doing them right. If not I will try again. This is so fun and relaxing.
ReplyDeleteWell, don't know that I'll make it through every challenge, or even in order, but I am new to Zentangle and I'm loving it, so I'm glad to come across these weekly challenges, I think it will really help me develop my skills!
ReplyDeleteI challenged myself to do a doodle a day this year and then decided to try to catch up on your challenge beginning from the first one. Thank you for providing a forum to share our work & improve at the art of tangling. :)
ReplyDeleteI've been doing the same as Cyndie above.... doing some here and there and I'll have a bunch to upload and share soon. :) Thanks for this!
ReplyDeleteI finally got back to do this one. :)
ReplyDeleteI love the Simplicity tangle tile above! Are there directions somewhere on how to make it??
