How has Zentangle Enhanced My Life?

Before i ever heard of Zentangle, I suffered from anxiety attacks. These attacks seemed to have been amplified by postpartum depression after the birth of my first son, Chewie. i was in a dark place, a cycle of depression fed by anxiety fed by depression.

When i tried my hand at tangling, i immediately noticed the change in my anxiety levels, in my mood, and in my heart. it was like someone offered me a 3.5" square of sanity, and i clung to it with all my might.

I was pregnant with Artoo when i made the trip to Whitinsville to become a Certified Zentangle Teacher. I met some fabulous people, had a wonderful time, and learned so much! I started this blog to chat about my classes and teaching experiences. When i went into labour 2 months early with Artoo and we adjusted to hospital life of a preemie, Zentangle kept me calm on days when i thought i might scream. On an impulse, i created a tile for Artoo's preemie neighbour, a teeny little baby named Erik. Because of that one act of impulsive tangling, i met some amazing women with preemie babies, who have become some of my dearest friends. It's a sisterhood - to go through the hell of having a sick preemie and to thankfully come out the other side. we all did. <3

Then one day, a CZT posed a challenge on facebook to all CZTs to create a tile a week. I asked if there was a particular challenge, there wasn't. So, i took it upon myself to challenge other Zentangle enthusiasts, and the rest, as they say, is history. This blog has exploded.

I am so honoured to host this challenge each week. You've all become some of my bestest online friends. i love seeing your tiles, i love visiting your blogs... Zentangle has changed my life, it's made it happier, calmer, more creative, full of wonderful and amazing people who keep inspiring me... each time i think: "i wonder if i should stop the challenge" someone emails me to tell me how they loved this week's challenge, how it moved them, or how they never thought they were an artist, but now they do. you all, you keep me going. thank you!

Thanks, everyone, for your kind words and your emails.  I'm so happy to pass on this Zentangle Love to the winners, i wish i could award you all!

Winners, please email me your addresses by Thursday so i can get your packages off to you!!  :)

  1. Wowee! You lucky three, I see loads of fun times ahead for all of you. :-)

  2. ummmm, were can I find my number :-S

  3. to those who have asked;

    I assigned everyone's entry a number in a spreadsheet on my computer, because there was a possibility of each person have three entries if they commented, blogged, or tweeted on twitter.

    From the spreadsheet I selected three numbers randomly then found the corresponding entry in the comments section

    This was to ensure that those who left a response and blogged and tweeted in the same comment got each of their allotted contest entries, and those who whoopsied and forgot their email address and left it in a separate comment didn't get extra.

    I wish I could have awarded everyone with a prize, but there were over 300 entries.

  4. Woohoo! This is so exciting! I will now have to take several items off my Christmas wish list.

    Thanks, Laura. I'll send you an e-mail with my address.

  5. Thank you soooo much, I can't wait to play with this stuff :D Wheee!

tangle me some zen, baby!!
