KABOOM!! |
It's a brand new year! Are we all settling in to 2015? I've found myself writing the date with 2014 a few times... it usually takes me until mid February to get that straight.
As we start this new year of challenges, i want to bring your attention to a few things. The first one being this: I'm doing away with the slideshow. This shouldn't come as a shock. I'm sad to see them go, believe me. They were pretty amazing. I'm not shutting down the ones that are already in existence... so any of these slideshows should still be available to look at on line.
Collecting the images and creating the slideshows was very time consuming, and even when i had some amazing help, it was too much for me to keep going. Being a busy stay-at-home mom to two boys and one of those with special needs... it's just one more thing on my plate.
Over the past few months i've been asking for your feedback on this, and the majority of you said that while you'd hate to see them go, you were onboard with making my life easier. ;)
So, now the easiest way to share your submissions is to use the linkey machine. You don't have to have a blog for that, you just have to have your image hosted online. There are some great image hosting websites you can use, like Flickr or Picassa, or Pinterest to name a few. They're all free and all pretty easy to navigate. An offshoot to this is that i can't accept your images by email any more to upload for you. i'm sorry. i hope you'll understand.
The next thing i wanted to do was to bring your attention to the PayPal button on the right side of the blog. I've created a TipJar through PayPay. You never EVER need to pay to take part in the Weekly challenge...EVER.
This is a service i provide out of the goodness of my heart for you because i love you and i love this community, and i'm sweet like that. HOWEVER - if you think that the service i provide is worth a cup of coffee once a month - PayPal will help you do that.
You can now set up a monthly donation that will come, safely, from your PayPal account. You can cancel any time from your PayPal account.
There are three levels of tipping: Cuppa Coffee ($2/month), Micron Pen ($5/month) or Champagne and Cupcakes ($10/month) and if you're more a one-time lump sum kinda tipper, you can always tip via my PayPal address; madam_diva at yahoo dot com
[if you're visiting my blog on your mobile device you can find the same tip jar in the drop down menu of blog pages or by visiting this link]
Now that that's out of the way... here's what you really came for....
Weekly Challenge #200: "Bi-Zen-Tennial Celebration!"
First off, i can't take credit for the term Bi-zen-tennial. That's all on my friend Elisa Murphy - as with many things in our new friendship.... things just fall into place. I had spent a good portion of Sunday afternoon trying to come up with some kind of clever title for this week's challenge... and was coming up blank.
cut to: an email from Elisa arriving Sunday evening congratulating me on my Bi-zen-tennial. Perfect. Just Perfect. Thanks lady!
I also received this sweet email from Rick and Maria at Zentangle HQ:
Two hundred is quite a "festiva"
Can anyone hardly believe a. . .
Goddess named Laura
Zentangled an aura
All around us. . . ."Viva la Diva!"
Our Best Good Wishes to Everytangler's Angel
The Great Laura Harms
2015
Rick and Maria
Isn't that the sweetest? it's not every day a gal has poetry written about her.
Also Sunday as we celebrated B-rad's 35th birthday at my mom and dad's, my family surprised me be bestowing upon me this deliciousness!

Om Nom Nom.... Moments after this photo was taken my brother shoved my face into my cake. Classic. |
So, just what is this week's Bi-Zen-tennial challenge?
This week's Challenge is to use your Mac'N'Cheese tangle in a Monotangle. Or, in other words: create a tile using ONLY your go to, or favourite tangle.
And let's take advantage of the WHOLE tile! No borders! Let's extend from end to end, and fill our tiles BURSTING with Tangly JOY!
And finally - put the number 200 (big or small) somewhere on your tile.
200! Bi-zen-tennial!! |
So - to recap:
- Monotangle of your GO-TO or Mac'n'cheese tangle
- no border, extend from end to end
- stick in the number 200 somewhere!
And what kind of Celebration would it be if i didn't have a giveaway?
I have three lovely SECRET prize packages to give to you! (the suspense is killing me already)

ReplyDeleteHurray - what a milestone! It was fun to complete a tile for this challenge and I used fassett as my go-to tangle. Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Laura on a magnificent achievement! I've fired up some candles and had a table party at Chrissie Murphy Designs to honour the occasion, here's to another 200!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, Laura! Thank you for your faithfulness in sharing 200 Monday's of inspiration and creativity.
ReplyDeleteYeehaa , what a star you are!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the joyful ride you provided for us. Your blog enables us to learn from others and to share our tiles with. Its a great little community, were very blessed indeed.
Awesome 200!!!! What dedication.... and so much fun!
ReplyDeleteI tend to go to Tipple even though I don't really like drawing it because I always think my circles look messy and not round enough. I also avoid using one tangle over another, so it is really hard to say. I ended up going with 'nzepple for my entry. Truth be told my real go to is probably just lines, just plain parallel lines.
ReplyDeleteI appreciate you site and the challenges! They push me out of my comfort zone and help me try new things.
Congratulations on your 200th challenge!!! I, for one, am thankful you put forth the effort.
Congrats on 200!
ReplyDeleteI finally decided to start doing these challenges more regularly, no bettter way then to start with a celebration!

Congratulations! I love your blog.

ReplyDeleteI am # 92 :-)
Best wishes, ursula b. from Berlin, Germany
Happy 200! My favorite is Flux :)
ReplyDeleteanother "Best whishes" from Berlin, Germany! I'm number 95. I needed three attempts until I was satified with my Mookas, but now I like it a lot.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Laura! Like I said in my blog, I don't know how you have the energy to do all that you do, but thank you for the inspiration each week and thank you for making your blog such a warm and friendly place. I chose to do Luv-A finally for my tile, but that's just ONE of my favorites. Thanks again and congratulations on 200 challenges. I'm glad that I'm here
ReplyDeleteCongrats, 200 posts are a lot of work! I appreciate it
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your 200th challenge. With my contribution you're halfway in the number of participants you hope for! I've been lurking for most last year (only did 2 challenges), but hope to participate each week this year.
ReplyDeletea cool celebration Laura. My contribution is one of my favourites: Rain. The tile means: spread this news out to the whole world: Laura's Challenge is number 200!.. and it has a wink to"your" Diva Dance and your spectacles. Many congrats and happy tangling!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, Laura! Very thankful for all the work you put into your website. 200 is quite the milestone.
¡Felicitaciones Laura!

ReplyDeleteCongrats Laura! 200 Challenges - I have participated off and on as I can over the years and just love how you have brought the Zentangle community together with your challenges. Hope you will continue with many more.

ReplyDeleteSo many comments! So little time. Grats on 200! Remarkable! Looking forward to the next 200 challenges.
ReplyDeleteI am so EXCITED! Viva La Diva! This is Zen-Fabulous!
ReplyDeleteFun x 200!! I have not done a challenge for quite some time so I am happy to have been able to do this one. Sanibelle (THANK YOU Tricia Faraone) has always been one of my faves!! (btw it was terribly hard to choose, I have so many) At any rate, I added some sea foam and a sea scroll with the #200 on it. Thanks Laura for your diligence and dedication. LOVE!! Sue O.
ReplyDeleteI am new to this so not sure where to post pic of my 200th challenge zentangle?? Where do we post the pics?? on your facebook page?? Thanks ~ Jae

ReplyDeleteCongratulations on this achievement! I've only been along for the ride since #158 but am giving serious consideration to the personal challenge of going back for all those I missed. Thank you so much for the time and effort you put into this. You pick us all up! (figuratively, not literally thankfully!) :-)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on this awesome accomplishment! Thank you for your dedication. I enjoy and look forward to these challenges every week. I haven't been posting lately because of family issues. Your challenges continue to be a bright spot in my week, and I had to post for this special occasion.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, Laura! You have provided much inspiration to me over the last three years. My go-to tangle is Voga.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on reaching such a huge milestone! My go to tangle is Fassett.
ReplyDeleteThanks for all of your work in preparing these challenges every week. 200 in a wonderful milestone.
ReplyDeleteYAY! I don't remember if I already commented, but I will again! So, YAY! :) I really love how you've drawn together (see the pun I did there?) a community as well as inspired people to tangle, AND brought your own journey in so transparently. I don't remember what # I started at, but my blog only documents back to #155. I know I started sooner than that -- maybe #101? Regardless, you are awesome and I wish we lived closer. It was a gift to share CZT15 with you! xo
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on hitting this anniversary, and thank you very much!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for doing this week-in and week-out! I've learned so much from the experience of seeing how others approach the same topic. I look forward to it as a treat every week!
ReplyDeleteHappy 200th!!! What a wonderful selfless contribution you make to the community! It is a lot of work in your already busy life. Thank you for all you do.
ReplyDeleteCheers on your bizentennial!
ReplyDeleteTook a while to scroll through, and read all the comments. Will throw in my congratulations on the milestone of 200 weekly challenges. Do not remember exactly what number I started at, but has been a couple of years. This was one of the ways that I practiced before I attended my CZT seminar. Fun to see the boys growing up. Looking forward to many more challenges.
ReplyDeleteNearly at that 200th entry. Congratulations to Laura, long time tanglers and those newer tanglers putting their work out there.
ReplyDelete170 and counting! It was fun to dig out my patterns and zentangle again! Good luck hitting 200 but even if you don't you have done an amazing thing, bringing artists from all over the globe together with Zentangle.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on reaching 200, Miss Diva!
ReplyDeleteEven though I haven't participated in a lot of challenges, I do come by and look at all the loveliness everyone posts each week.
My go-to-tangle has always been Bales. It's the first one I tried and an easy one to remember, especially when I was just starting out and stumbled across 100's of patterns to use!
I wish you lots of luck, joy and happiness with the challenges to come!
Congratulations, Ms Diva and I hope you make your 200 participants. This is my first posting, but I have followed you for a long time trying to get up the nerve to show my work. YOU are an inspiration and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for giving other artist wantta-bes the opportunity and courage to try their hand! Best Wishes.
ReplyDeleteOh man, wrote a whole lovely paragraph then it never published. Boo. Thinking of you and hoping you reach 200. This is my first entry and I am excited for this new weekly adventure. Thanks for all you do, Laura! Hugs from Vermont
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on reaching 200 challenges! I've only been around for a short time, but am already addicted to them. :) My go-to tangle is Beedle, and though it doesn't make for a particularly interesting monotangle, I love using it!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! And thank you for all your challenges. I've been aware of your challenges for quite a while, but had never gotten around to completing any of them. In honor of your 200th challenge, I actually tangled a tile (with Bales), photographed the tile, opened a Flickr account, uploaded the picture, and posted a link to it. Once again, thanks for your amazing contribution to the Zentangle community.
ReplyDeleteI love Bales as my comfort tangle. I find it very soothing to draw.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your 200th challenge and thanks for being such a wonderful member of the Zentangle community!
I love to visit and look at the beautiful artwork here, but haven't submitted yet. Thanks for the inspiration.
ReplyDeletelaura - thanks for all the hard work you do for us. i know you have your plate full already, but you always make time for us. blessings, dear lady! i enjoy seeing all the pictures you post of your family - so much love in those pictures!
ReplyDeletemy mac n cheese tangle is TootsieMoon - one of my own - and that's what i used :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Laura willingness to share... not only your inspiration and creativity, but your courage and compassion facing life's challenges. After lurking and stalking here for 2 months since my first Zentangle class at a local community centre, I am making my first post in this weekly challenge. Some of my favourite tangles are "Star Map" and "Ahh". Simple, versatile, and possibly misunderstood...just like 'mac n' cheese'!!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, Laura. It takes a lot to post as regularly as you do. Thanks for your dedication.
ReplyDeleteCongrat on your great accomplishment !!! Today is day 2 for me to tangle and my first day to visit with you:) WooHoo...Here's to a great journey:)
ReplyDeleteWow! I've seen your Zentangles at the beginning of each of your posts. I enjoy looking at them. I never see anyone else's though, I don't know where they are. Also, I don't have a URL that I know of so I don't understand how to show you my Zentangles. I only know how to scan items then send them as attachments in emails. But mostly I'd like to see the Zentangles other people make that come from your challenges. To see what your written description stimulates their minds to do. Could you guide me a little. Then maybe I could participate in the challenges too.
ReplyDeleteHey Tracy, pop me an email
DeleteCongratulations and thank you for inspiring us every week! I always go back to Crescent Moon, and you got me to complete a tile in one day!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Laura and thanks for the weekly inspirations, even though I cann't participate every week....
ReplyDeleteHi there Laura. . . . just wondering, was there any one tangler who participated in all 200 challenges??? Inquiring minds want to know. . .
ReplyDeleteMaria
i'd also like to know that.... i haven't kept tabs... i know there are a few loyalists who show up every monday morning like clock work...
DeleteYOU DID IT!!!! 200 ENTRIES; THAT'S A GREAT RESULT.
ReplyDeleteI've been a long time Lurker :) and LOVE the challenges. I have wanted to upload a Zentangle for some time. So here we go for the 200th Challenge why not get too it. Thank you for continuing this blog and the challenges.
