well, here it is. The last few days of summer before school starts for these kids. We are trying to eke out the last bits of fun times before it's back into the routine of every day life.
This week i took the boys to a matinee to see the Secret Life of Pets, which they both really enjoyed.
Movie Time! |
these trailers sure are bright |
We also went and spent a sunny afternoon at the out door pool with my mom and my niece, had a playdate with friends from out of town, and then went out to dinner with some different freinds from out of town - and to top off the busy week Chewie started league bowling on Saturday mornings!

At least i've got tangling to keep my sane.
Weekly Challenge #282: "Spill It!"
A little while ago my bestie gifted me with two big delicious beets, fresh from her garden. I love beets, so i was thrilled to have them.
That night, as i was washing and peeling and chopping the beets for dinner, i was awestruck, as i often am, of the vibrant magenta colour and i thought: I wonder what would happen if i spilled these peels onto a zentangle tile?
The result? a Big Beautiful Magenta splotch - which i used as a string and tangled.
here's the result
Beautiful |
This week's challenge is to spill something onto your tile and then tangle it. It doesn't have to be beets, lol.
I also did an ATC using coffee as my Spill
and then the finished result:
You could use coffee, or tea, or wine, or beets - anything that will leave a splotch! Food colouring in water? Water colours? what else? Enjoy!

Indeed, the color of beets is amazing! And you tangled on it so beautiful. The coffee tile is great as well.
ReplyDeleteSucces with ajusting to school times again.
And are your fingers the same beautiful color? I love roasted beets. Never thought to color a tile with them. Oh, the possibilities. Farm market here I come!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the beet tangle! Thank you for the fun challenge. Best of luck with the start of school. TBH-- my least favorite day of the year, as I miss my side kicks so much!
ReplyDeleteHow pretty is beet juice? Too bad I just don't like them :( Your tile is super!
ReplyDeleteLove the tiles and the challenge!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cool idea - love your beet juice colour, and of course your tile.
ReplyDeleteWine! Or diluted acrylics. Or even inks. This is going to be so much fun. :D
ReplyDeleteI wish Singapore had enough pavement space to be able to draw on. The downside of being such a small city. :/
I had so much fun with this, thanks Laura!
ReplyDeleteOoooooooohhhhhh, I loved this challenge. It was a bit challenging to not overthink what the heck I wanted to do once I spilled my herbal, coffee drink on my tile. Then I said to myself, "let go and let Art" and it worked. Shake shoulders, loosen up, enjoy JOY. Thanks once again for a great challenge Laura. Love it, love it.
ReplyDeleteA lovely end of the hollidays and a lovely challenge. I like your tile very much.
ReplyDeletea funny challenge !
ReplyDeleteWho knew red wine would blossom into a bunch of flower tangles? Great challenge, and it pushed me into another look altogether. Thanks for the fun!
ReplyDeleteI am so impressed by the creativity of these tiles, you guys are the best! I have so much to learn.
ReplyDeleteAfter a tricky start because of tiles that contain bleach (!) this was a lot of fun. Thanks Laura!
ReplyDeleteI love the color you get from beets. I don't have any beets, but I do have some bottled beet juice. It worked just as well, as far as the color is concerned. But unfortunately, I didn't realize that it had pooled up in one area, and caused some difficulty in tangling over that spot. Not my best effort, but, as they say,"It is what it is."
ReplyDeleteWhat a great way to celebrate a friend's gift. Love your tile and thanks for another fabulous challenge. This was such fun.
ReplyDeleteThank´s for such a playful challenge! I couldn´t stop spilling! So I am taking place with 3 tiles this time!
ReplyDeleteI love your tile! I is so beautiful!
