Our week started off on a bit of a downer as Artoo was home sick from school both Monday and Tuesday. The only upside of this is that Artoo seems to be handling colds better now and we are able to manage them from home without a visit to the hospital. Small Victories! (Well, that's actually kind of a huge one, to be honest)
He was happy to be back at school on Wednesday, except by wednesday i had started to feel kinda crummy, so i spent a lot of the week resting up while the kids were in school because we had a big weekend planned!
Chewie and his friend E have been bowling in a league since September, and back in November they won first place in local tournament qualifying them for Provincials! So, this weekend we drove down to Regina for the Provincial Masters Bantam Tournament.

The rest of the afternoon and evening was spent at the waterslide park in the hotel - where Artoo braved the super fast waterslide, even though he was scared. He decided he was NOT a fan of the waterslides, and much preferred to swim in the pool or play in the spray park.
Chewie, on the other hand, was off on the slides the second we got there. We had an adjoining room with his bowling partner's family (they're close friends of ours since high school) so he and Miss E were off like a flash.
I dunno, the guy on the other side of this hotel door looks mighty suspicious.... |

Weekly Challenge #302: "UMT Hamadox by Diana Schreur CZT"
For those of you who are new, the first Monday of every month is a Use My Tangle Challenge, where the challenge of the week is to use a tangle created by one of you! If you have a tangle you'd like to submit you can add it here and be sure that it follows the guidelines for submission.
This month's UMT is Hamadox by Diana Schruer, and you can see the step outs here - This should be an easy one, seeing as wee're all warmed up with last week's Paradox duotangle. I had been seeing this tangle being used in the Mosaic app for a while, and i didn't know how to do it, but i love how it looks. So i'm super excited to see it come up this week.
Here's my take on it:
have a great week!
And if you're on the Zentangle Mosaic App or Instagram - i'm @iamthediva - come on by and follow me, and i'm going to be using hashtags on the app for each of my weekly challenges. So if you're game - use the hashtag #DC302(Diva Challenge #302) for your tile this week! You can also search in the app for people's contributions to the challenge by clicking on the hashtag from inside the app, or using the search function.
If you have a blog or host your images on line (like on Flickr or Picassa or Pinterest), add the site-specific URL where your tile is posted to the linkey machine below! Don't forget to link back here so that others can join in the fun! (if you don't know how to find this, you can see my half assed tutorial here) Also, please feel free to come back often and visit the links of those people on the linkey machine - don't forget to leave a comment or feedback, everyone loves feedback. ;)
If you love the challenge as much as i do, please consider leaving a tip (tip jar in the side bar). I write this blog for free and have no plans to make it a paid for service in the future. Buy me a cup of coffee, or a new Micron pen!! Click the tip jar on the side for a monthly tip, but if you just wanna throw a few bucks my way THIS LINK will give you a one time option. A very big thank you to those who have kept me in hot cups of joe. ;)
So beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThat's a pretty tangle. Congrats to the bowlers. (By the way, it's #302, if you're still counting :) )
ReplyDeleteLooks like fun science stuffs.
ReplyDeleteHamadox is cute.
Oh Laura, thanks for using Hamadox as the UMT, I was so surprised and excited when I saw it on your blog post. I love what you did with it. Many thanks again. :)
ReplyDeleteBTW my name is Diana Schreur.
DeleteThis is a great tangle. Thanks for the challenge. I like how you did yours - they look like lily pads. :-) And what fun you have with your boys. I would love to go to that Science Center. Looks like everyone is having fun there with those bubbles and infinity mirrors and megalodon shark and the gears. What a great way to learn about new things. Congratulations to Chewie and his bowling team.
ReplyDeleteHey there, Laura. I just got on the "linky machine" with this week's challenge. I really like the UMT you used today. This tangle(ation) made me do some really curvy things in my drawing which I had not done too much of. But now, I find that I want to do more of that kind of drawing (see the monster you created?) hahahaha jk. Thanks for all your efforts in doing the weekly challenge. I love to do it and look forward to doing it each week.
ReplyDeleteOh, by the way..almost forgot: You mentioned at the science center about being a mad scientist. I used to work for Mad Science, Corp. and was a mad scientist (my name was Professor Positron) we went to local elementary schools and taught basic science to the kids as an after school event, I did that for several years before retiring.
ReplyDeleteThanks,
Duane.
I like your tile and the whole post. Must have been a great weekend!!!!
ReplyDeleteLove this tangle! Thanks for the challenge!
ReplyDeleteAnd a fine and wonderful "take on it" it is Laura. Been away way too long. Thanks, as always for sharing and keeping this wonderful challenge going. I used this challenge for my re-entry point and am most happy I did.
ReplyDeleteLove this beautiful pattern from the first try on it! I have seen it but not done it before! Thank´s Laura for bringing this challenge to us! Love your tile!
ReplyDeleteLovely pictures of happy children, it's great for them to visit such a science center.
ReplyDeleteI like your tile and thank you for this nice challenge.
What a weekend! Congratulations to Chewie and E on doing so well in the tournament!
ReplyDeleteI love UMT Challenges...I was familiar with hamadox, but hadn't used it much, so I was really happy to have a reason to focus on it. It's a very satisfying feature tangle. Thank you Laura, and Diana! :-)
Thanks for the challenge, Hamadox was new to me and it was very relaxing to tangle. I also enjoyed reading about your weekend trip, sounds like you had lots of fun. Your tile is beautiful, the swirls of Hamadox are so even.
ReplyDeleteHow neat you choose a challenge with mixed tiles I just happened upon a site in Germany called Pattern Mixer where Anya had challenges using two tiles to make a new one, unfortunately she said this month will be her last challenge as there were not many ppl doing it. I thought the combination using Paradox was so creative it took me several practice tries to wrap my head around it. Thanks Laura.
ReplyDeleteThis is such a relaxing tangle! Thanks for introducing us!
ReplyDeleteThanks Laura for this challenge! I love this tangle and your own tile is very beautiful.
