Weekly Challenge #320

Happy Monday everyone!

Thanks for the understanding last week - i was so wiped from the week before, it literally took me until wednesday or thursday to get back into the swing of things.  i was falling asleep every day, even though i was sleeping okay.  just exhausted.

The week's weather started hot and by the end of the week it was cold and chilly.  B-rad went off on his annual fishing trip weekend with his brothers, so the boys and i did some fun things together.

Spray park Shenanigans
There's a spray park at the playground at the boys' school - so on Thursday i surprised them by showing up after school with towels and snacks and they played in the water while i did some painting in my journal.

such as ice cold hand on my leg.... brrrr.
The boys didn't have school on Friday, so the boys and i talked about our summer art project: ArtClubDotCom (which is what Artoo named it) - we decided that we are going to try to do some thing artistic every day this summer.  So we went to Michaels to get some art supplies for the project - and the boys were excited.  They have been drawing in their journals every day since then.

Saturday my mom took the boys overnight so i could go out with my gal pal - we had beer on a rooftop patio (This mug holds 21oz of beer)

That's a large beer.
Then we went to a late showing of Wonder Woman - and Oh My Gosh.  I loved it.
also - b-rad texted me Saturday night to say that the guys were ending their fishing trip a day early.   I guess they had bad weather, cold and windy, and they weren't catching any fish - so they called it a day.

So on Sunday morning the boys were excited to see that their dad was home a day early!

Yay Dad!
Then Sunday afternoon we went out to my in-laws for dinner.  At our house, we pay the boys to pick up the pine cones that fall off our pine trees onto the grass.  We only pay them $.01/pinecone.  Grandpa got wind of this and offered the boys $.05/pinecone.

Artoo and Chewie picked up 110 and 345 pinecones, respectively, from our lawn before we went out to Grandma and Grandpa's, and Artoo was ready to take grandpa up on his offer.

That's a lot of pinecones
Then he and i counted them out with Grandpa - 352!! so, Artoo left Grandpa's last night with $17.60
and there were SOOOO many left on the grass that he didn't pick up. lol.  He's pretty pumped and talking about all the Weird Al Yankovic CDs that he wants to buy.  :)

Before the challenge - i just wanted to say that, as is my custom, i'm going to be taking July and August off of blogging.  I hope to have some guest posts lined up for you, but i haven't got them organized as of yet.  i'll keep you posted.

Weekly Challenge #320: "UMT - Dansk by Margaret Bremner, CZT"
Since last week's challenge was BEad INSPIRED, today will be the Use My Tangle challenge - where the challenge is to use a tangle created by one of you!

For those of you who are new, the first Monday of every month is a Use My Tangle Challenge, where the challenge of the week is to use a tangle created by one of you!  If you have a tangle you'd like to submit you can add it here and be sure that it follows the guidelines for submission.

This month's UMT is Dansk by Margaret Bremner and you can see the step outs here

This is the second time Dansk has been the UMT tangle.  I love this tangle, but i rarely use it - because it's not one that i feel really comfortable with.  Which is why i haven't really used it since Challenge #105

While i was streaming last night - i really noticed that i had a hard time with the way i used my pen.  I really like pulling the pen towards me, but this tangle's auraing means that you have to pull/push or push/pull the pen, or pull half way, turn the tile, and pull again.
Starry sky through a window?

It took me some time to get comfortable with it - but by my second tile, i already liked it more.  I need to practice more if i'm going to get the knack of layering them over each other the way Margaret does.

This tangle, with all it's auras, requires a bit of focus - the key to lovely auras is keeping the spacing between each aura as equal as possible.
An egg in a nest?

I hope you enjoy Dansk.

Thanks to everyone who joined me on Twitch last night! It was a fun stream!

have a great week!

And if you're on the Zentangle Mosaic App or Instagram - i'm @iamthediva - come on by and follow me, and i'm going to be using hashtags on the app for each of my weekly challenges. So if you're game - use the hashtag #DC320(Diva Challenge #320) for your tile this week! You can also search in the app for people's contributions to the challenge by clicking on the hashtag from inside the app, or using the search function.

If you have a blog or host your images on line (like on Flickr or Picassa or Pinterest), add the site-specific URL where your tile is posted to the linkey machine below! Don't forget to link back here so that others can join in the fun! (if you don't know how to find this, you can see my half assed tutorial here) Also, please feel free to come back often and visit the links of those people on the linkey machine - don't forget to leave a comment or feedback, everyone loves feedback. ;)

If you love the challenge as much as i do, please consider leaving a tip (tip jar in the side bar).  I write this blog for free and have no plans to make it a paid for service in the future.  Buy me a cup of coffee, or a new Micron pen!! Click the tip jar on the side for a monthly tip, but if you just wanna throw a few bucks my way THIS LINK will give you a one time option.    A very big thank you to those who have kept me in hot cups of joe. ;)

  8. Great challenge! I'm loving Dansk because it's similar to one of my faves, Sandswirl. Now I must continue to remember to concentrate and go slow with the auras. Best advice ever! Thanks;-)
