Weekly Challenge #332

Happy Monday everyone?

Did you miss me?

Before i start - i want to say a huge thank you to all of my guest bloggers this summer! thank you for your creative and wonderful challenges that kept things rolling all summer long.

and some of you may have noticed that there was no challenge last week.  Yeah, sorry about that.  I had a couple of guest spots fall through the cracks at the last minute and with last week being back to school for the boys - i just had too many plates spinning in the air and had to let one of them drop... thanks for understanding.

I'm still not back into the swing of things.  As i said the boys started school last week.  As nice as it's been to have them starting to get back into a routine, it's been hard and has left everyone in the house with some big cranky feelings (myself included)

SO

I have lots of things to catch you all up on, and so here's a list of things we did this summer, in bullet form...

  • me and the kids went camping at the beginning of July in my mom's camper
  • I took an introduction to wheel turning pottery class from the Sask Potters' Guild, it was amazing and i loved every second of it.
  • i got to hang out with the super fun Chris Titus and Margaret Bremner!
  • We got a puppy.  Her name is Luna, she's an Australian Shepherd (her mom was a mini aussie and her dad was a standard size) she's currently 4 months old and super smart.... Chewie is in love with her, as are B-rad and I.  Artoo took longer to warm up to her, but that's mostly because she still hasn't figured out not to jump when she says hi.
  • i went to the most amazing Harry Potter themed lunch with my friend Susan
  • The boys spent the majority of the nights in July sleeping in a tent in the yard, by themselves!!!
  • We did some camping (in a tent, omg) with B-rad's family, and Artoo swam in the lake (with a lifejacket) in the deep deep lake.
  • many many meals of hot dogs were cooked over backyard fires and campfires
  • We watched the solar eclipse with the rad pin-hole projector that B-rad made for us
  • We spent almost a whole week at a cabin by the lake with my whole side of the family where Artoo rode the tube with B-rad for the first time, and auntie Pam tossed Chewie and i in the lake while we were riding on the tube.
  • Before my brother flew home we took the kids to Kinsmen park where Artoo tried the zipline for the first time
  • The boys did some fishing (i don't fish)
  • Artoo attended his first ever rock concert!! we went to see Fitz and the Tantrums and according to Artoo it was the best day of his life.
  • We went to several out door festivals including the Fringe, Folk Fest, and Art in the Park
  • i attended an intro to Soul Collage workshop at Margaret Bremner's home
  • The boys discovered the public library and the amazingness of ALL THESE BOOKS FOR FREEEEEE
  • Chewie started the 4th grade and Artoo started the 2nd grade
  • B-rad and I celebrated our 13th wedding anniversary
Now prepare for SO MANY PHOTOS!!

Weekly Challenge #332 "String it: 2² (two squared)"
i thought for my first challenge back i'd go with something pretty simple.  So this week's challenge is to create a tile or piece using a string consisting of two squares!

I forgot to take a picture of my before tile, but i put my square off kilter with the corners touching the border, and i think it worked pretty well.  You can do the same type thing i did, or you can do a square inside a square, or two squares next to each other, or one overlapping the other.... or something else that's amazing!

i used a light wash of Daniel Smith Moonglow for the background of this tile,
in case you were wondering.
That's it! -and for those of you who have asked - YES i DO plan to start live streaming on twitch again, however i'm just trying to find a way to make it work with this fall's family schedule.  B-rad joined league bowling and they play on Sunday nights (when i would be streaming).  So i may try a few different times to see what works the best for us, and i'll be sure to let everyone know.

Oohhh, before i go - another cool thing that happened over the summer is that i got 1000 followers on instagram!  So, i will be having a giveaway soon - be sure to keep your eye on my instagram page if you want to get in on that.  (www.instagram.com/iamthediva)

And if you're on the Zentangle Mosaic App or Instagram - i'm @iamthediva - come on by and follow me, and i'm going to be using hashtags on the app for each of my weekly challenges. So if you're game - use the hashtag #DC332(Diva Challenge #332) for your tile this week! You can also search in the app for people's contributions to the challenge by clicking on the hashtag from inside the app, or using the search function.

If you have a blog or host your images on line (like on Flickr or Picassa or Pinterest), add the site-specific URL where your tile is posted to the linkey machine below! Don't forget to link back here so that others can join in the fun! (if you don't know how to find this, you can see my half assed tutorial here) Also, please feel free to come back often and visit the links of those people on the linkey machine - don't forget to leave a comment or feedback, everyone loves feedback. ;)
If you love the challenge as much as i do, please consider leaving a tip (tip jar in the side bar).  I write this blog for free and have no plans to make it a paid for service in the future.  Buy me a cup of coffee, or a new Micron pen!! Click the tip jar on the side for a monthly tip, but if you just wanna throw a few bucks my way THIS LINK will give you a one time option.    A very big thank you to those who have kept me in hot cups of joe. ;)

  3. You're not. I totally ventured outside strong line so some of it got lost in the shading. I put a tilted square inside my square border. I sure wish I had take a before shot.

I'm away this week but happened to have drawn exactly what your Challenge was just recently. Thank you for having such wonderful hosts while you had a break.

  13. Yay great to have you back. Love the weekly challenges! I made myself a challenge in your challenge, using only the letter E tangles! Why I have no clue lol. Your summer looked calming and fun. Glad that you take time for yourself to recharge and be with family. Back to school here too. One in high school and teenage years are not calming on my nerves. I am glad I have all you and zentangles to destress me. Love the pics and happy anniversary. Tara
