Weekly Challenge #336

Happy Tuesday! I have lots to say! lol

This week these two handsome boys had school photos - and they both looked so handsome in their ties... i could barely stand it.

Facebook reminded me of this photo of Chewie from 7 years ago just a week before Artoo was born.  He was 2 there, so i showed it to him and he made this face....  he's still got it.  ;)

what a kid
I had a very busy week - doing some work that i'll tell you about in a bit.   And then Thursday the kids had a pancake breakfast at school - so we went to that and Artoo was pretty excited to be eating his breakfast at school in the gym.  (Our school doesn't have a cafeteria or lunch room, all the kids eat lunches in their classrooms at their desks - so this was a big deal for them)

Artoo says the pancakes deserve a thumbs up
This weekend was Thanksgiving up here in Canada.  So we went for dinner on Sunday night at my in-laws place, and Artoo and I went for a bit of a walk down the village road with the dog to get out of the noisy house (he and i are both introverts and there were lots of people there)

And Sunday was our first Snowfall of the year!! just tiny flakes/flurries, and they were gone almost as soon as they started... but it was a sober reminder that Winter is Coming.   It was about 2C on Sunday (35.6F).... so we busted out all the winter jackets.
village roadside cuddles and selfies
I ate a lot of pie.
not pictured here: the other slice of pie and the other 2 glasses of wine
Monday was a Holiday, and we had thanksgiving lunch at my parents' place.
I was trying to take a picture of B-rad and i, and we got epically photobombed by this kid.

Happy Canadian Thanksgiving
Oh, and also because it's hilarious to me every time i see it in my mother's dining room, here's a photo of me and my three brothers taken almost 20 years ago, back when i was a chipmunk, and my youngest brother was Jesus. .
In between stuffing our faces with turkey and stuffing our faces with pie - we took everyone to the park for a bit out running around.

my kid, my nephew, my niece
and we took a family photo - well, of those of us who were there.
The family minus TWO brothers, one sister in law, and one nephew

So.  What is that i have to tell you about today??  I have switched streaming platforms and i am now streaming on YouTube!

What does this mean for you?  well, this means if you've never been able to catch me live on Twitch, you can now catch me on YouTube... the best part is that YouTube captures the live stream and uploads it to my channel so you can watch it ANY TIME!!

Look at my awesome derpy face in that thumbnail.  lol

ANYWAY - Please Subscribe to my channel and sign up for notifications.  You'll get notified when i post a new video, or when i'm going live.  Also - it would be pretty great if you would give my videos a thumbs up and leave me a comment.  Any kind of interaction with my channel lets YouTube know that people are visiting and viewing my content.   Let me know what kind of content you'd like to see, and we can make this channel cool together.

If you don't know how to subscribe to a YouTube channel and receive notifications you can watch this handy tutorial i made for you, cuz i'm sweet like that.

And now for this week's challenge

Weekly Challenge #336: Striping - Monotangle

This week's challenge is to create a monotangle using the tangle STRIPING.  What is a monotangle you may ask? It's a term coined here at iamthediva HQ that means creating a tile or piece using ONLY ONE tangle.  IN this case, it's Striping.

Now, i am not a big fan of this tangle, and i couldn't really tell you why.  Given the option i would rather just use Bunzo, but being that this is a CHALLENGE blog, i figured i should give it a try.  Would you believe i've been a CZT for 7 years and have avoided using this tangle for seven years?  well.  That all ends today.

So Striping is an official tangle, and you can see the step outs here - Margaret Bremner is really good at this tangle, you should also check out this blog post

Here's my end piece.
(psst, you can watch me create this tile on the recorded version of the livestream i did on monday night...right here)

Okay! I hope you have a great week!!

And if you're on the Zentangle Mosaic App or Instagram - i'm @iamthediva - come on by and follow me, and i'm going to be using hashtags on the app for each of my weekly challenges. So if you're game - use the hashtag #DC336(Diva Challenge #336) for your tile this week! You can also search in the app for people's contributions to the challenge by clicking on the hashtag from inside the app, or using the search function.

If you have a blog or host your images on line (like on Flickr or Picassa or Pinterest), add the site-specific URL where your tile is posted to the linkey machine below! Don't forget to link back here so that others can join in the fun! (if you don't know how to find this, you can see my half assed tutorial here) Also, please feel free to come back often and visit the links of those people on the linkey machine - don't forget to leave a comment or feedback, everyone loves feedback. ;)
If you love the challenge as much as i do, please consider leaving a tip (tip jar in the side bar).  I write this blog for free and have no plans to make it a paid for service in the future.  Buy me a cup of coffee, or a new Micron pen!! Click the tip jar on the side for a monthly tip, but if you just wanna throw a few bucks my way THIS LINK will give you a one time option.    A very big thank you to those who have kept me in hot cups of joe. ;)

  1. Oooo. I like this challenge. It is easy enough that I can wrap my mind around it and not think, for awhile anyway, about the devastating fires happening here in Sonoma County, in particular Santa Rosa. I live just barely north of where it was all happening. I am so lucky, I didn't even loose electricity (although PG&E did shut off the gas). I just wanted everyone to know, especially the ones who know where I live, that I am fine and my home is safe. But it's not over until it's over, and the wind has changed direction and has lessened in intensity. It's now going to be coming from the SW and bring in cooler air and more moisture from the ocean. I can now go sit and focus on the Monotangle Striping.

  2. I happen to love Stripes, I put them in all over the place. Prayers are with our friends in California.

  3. This was a good challenge for me. I loved the video! I'm so glad you're doing that. I enjoyed the streams when I could manage to catch them, but it was difficult. Thanks so much for all you do;-)

  4. A great idea for your streams! I could never watch them before, so now I can and will. Thanks!
I like this challenge and had a zen time creating my tile. Yours is beautiful.

  5. Yay I got to see a video. Thanks so much. I had fun doing this tangle. 1st time for me too.

  6. Thanks for the challenge, I enjoyed having a go and your You tube was fun.

tangle me some zen, baby!!
