Weekly Challenge #338: White on Black!
So this week's challenge was supposed to coincide with a new YouTube video - and the new Gelly roll pens from Sakura. Sadly - i spent a good portion of my week trying to record and edit a video and record a decent voice over, only to find out that the "Free version" of the video editing software i had downloaded doesn't allow me to upload the video into a format for youtube. Needless to say i was not very pleased.
This whole Video recording thing is still new to me and i'm basically learning as i go - so i'm sorry there weren't as many Inktober Tangles videos this week - and i'm also sorry that the video i recorded to go with this challenge is just sitting, useless, on my desktop. :(
BUT i still have photos. So. that's at least something.
SO i received an early artist package of the new Sakura Gelly Roll pens in the new widths to test out before they are released to the rest of the world. Originally they only came in 08 size, which is fine - but it was tricky to do some of the more intricate line work of some tangles. So they have released a bold pen in a 10 size, and also a fine pen in a 05 size. I recorded a little unboxing video here
This week's challenge is to play with White on Black. You can use a black tile if you've got one, or you can throw a bit of black acrylic paint on a tile with an old credit card, or my personal favourite is Black Gesso.
For my submission i used the sample of Strathmore Black Chalk paper they sent me, cut down to a tile size.

That's it!
Okay! I hope you have a great week!!
And if you're on the Zentangle Mosaic App or Instagram - i'm @iamthediva - come on by and follow me, and i'm going to be using hashtags on the app for each of my weekly challenges. So if you're game - use the hashtag #DC338(Diva Challenge #338) for your tile this week! You can also search in the app for people's contributions to the challenge by clicking on the hashtag from inside the app, or using the search function.
If you have a blog or host your images on line (like on Flickr or Picassa or Pinterest), add the site-specific URL where your tile is posted to the linkey machine below! Don't forget to link back here so that others can join in the fun! (if you don't know how to find this, you can see my half assed tutorial here) Also, please feel free to come back often and visit the links of those people on the linkey machine - don't forget to leave a comment or feedback, everyone loves feedback. ;)
If you love the challenge as much as i do, please consider leaving a tip (tip jar in the side bar). I write this blog for free and have no plans to make it a paid for service in the future. Buy me a cup of coffee, or a new Micron pen!! Click the tip jar on the side for a monthly tip, but if you just wanna throw a few bucks my way THIS LINK will give you a one time option. A very big thank you to those who have kept me in hot cups of joe. ;)
Happy belated birthday wishes to Artoo & many thanks for the challenge!

ReplyDeleteWhat fun. Just got my Project Pack Nbr. 01 a couple days ago, so I tried the new Sakura White Gelly Roll pens, plus I have a boat load of bright and glittery Gelly Roll pens that I thought suited the occasion. Thanks Laura for another super fun challenge.
ReplyDeleteI had to run to my local art store to buy a pen (actually, I bought two, because I think I'll be using these a lot). Sakura knows what they're doing when they send you stuff.
ReplyDeleteI do feel you were taking on a lot with two parties in one week. Slow down, lady and relax a bit. But it does look as if you all had fun. As for this week'd challenge, I really did enjoy myself. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to getting my mitts on those new Gelly Rolls:-) I've got a big jar of black gesso and a bunch of dud tiles to resurrect;-) Thanks so much for THAT particular gem amongst all of the other inspiration you share here week to week;-)
ReplyDeleteFirst of all happy birthday to your little bub.Secondly I found your weekly challenge 338 quite interesting.I love this sakura gel pen too.
