Dear Everyone! i am soooo sorry that i was MIA last week. I apologize for missing the challenge - but it was such a crazy and exhausting week that my "late" challenge kept getting pushed back and back until it was a full on "missing" challenge. THanks for the reprieve, it's been a time over here.
We had our annual Spring pictures with our family friends - this marks the 10th year in a row we've done them, and i just LOVE that we are keeping the tradition going.
Both boys have been sick over the past week. Chewie got it first and missed an entire week of school, which is kind of a big deal for him. He's not often sick enough to stay home, but i took him to the doctor and got him some drugs and he spent most of the week chillin on the couch.... and on Thursday Artoo started feeling sick so then HE was home as well.
Sometimes when i lay on the couch, one by one everyone ends up laying on top of me....

On Saturday Janell and i enjoyed the beautiful weather and treated ourselves to Tea and Baklava |
seriously this baklava was so flippin good. |
chewie hard at work, popping up the camper. |
Saturday and Sunday were both really rough on my head - and i've been suffering from a long migraine. But i really wanted to get this week's challenge done, and out to you all! So without further ado:
Weekly Challenge #361: "Amanda Day - Earth day YEAR 7!!"
If you have been following the blog from the beginning you may remember that when Chewie was just a wee boy, we were talking about Earth Day and he asked me if the Earth had a name, and i said yes - it's Earth. He didn't think that was good enough, and so he re-named it Amanda. And hence forth, Earth Day has been forever known as Amanda Day here in my home and on the blog! So, for this week's Challenge - try to use some recycled material for your tile!
This year i used a Pizza Box, and as an added challenge - or an alternative if you don't like working on tan coloured tiles, you can make your string a "Sunshine" string. It feels like it's been winter here for sooooo long, and the sun this weekend was so amazing that i made my string into a sunshine and it was super fun.
So here's my tile for this week....
and here's this week's video!
(I can't believe i published this video with this Spring Minipack stuck in there,.....oh well. It's not about being perfect. lol)
have a great week everyone!
And if you're on the Zentangle Mosaic App or Instagram - i'm @iamthediva - come on by and follow me, and i'm going to be using hashtags on the app for each of my weekly challenges. So if you're game - use the hashtag #DC361 (Diva Challenge #361) for your tile this week! You can also search in the app for people's contributions to the challenge by clicking on the hashtag from inside the app, or using the search function.
If you have a blog or host your images on line (like on Flickr or Picassa or Pinterest), add the site-specific URL where your tile is posted to the linkey machine below! Don't forget to link back here so that others can join in the fun! (if you don't know how to find this, you can see my half assed tutorial here) Also, please feel free to come back often and visit the links of those people on the linkey machine - don't forget to leave a comment or feedback, everyone loves feedback. ;)
If you love the challenge as much as i do, please consider leaving a tip (tip jar in the side bar). I write this blog for free and have no plans to make it a paid for service in the future. Buy me a cup of coffee, or a new Micron pen!! Click the tip jar on the side for a monthly tip, but if you just wanna throw a few bucks my way THIS LINK will give you a one time option. A very big thank you to those who have kept me in hot cups of joe. ;)
Thanks for the great video - it's taught me a lot, so now to experiment and have a go myself.
ReplyDeleteGood to see you back, Laura and also good for the family that the boys are better now. I dis the Amanda challenge every year since I joined your challenge, but I wonder what to do this year. Not sure if I can think of something. So ... maybe!
ReplyDeleteTruly a fun challenge! thank you. Had a bit of difficulty figuring gout what I should even tangle on, lol. Looking forward to next week.
ReplyDeleteYou're tile is really pretty. I have yet to tangle on a tan tile but I hope to do so very soon.
ReplyDeleteI really appreciate your weekly challenges and I too am wanting a pop-up camper this year. :) Actually I think it was your posts about the camping you did last summer that made me consider a pop-up. :) I know you'll enjoy it.
Turns out I really like a tan background with black and white ink.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad everyone is OK again, Laura. Parenting can be exhausting, can't it? We had a trailer tent like yours some years ago and we loved it. Such freedom. Happy Amanda Day to you all.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the inspiration and for challenging us (almost) weekly to stretch or Zentangle abilities and creativity! Without you and the challenges I'm sure I wouldn't be tangling for all these years and have fun doing it. Had lots of it this week, too. And your videos are great!
