CHALLENGE! Getting Started

First of all, Welcome to the wonderful world of zentangle®.  I can't begin to tell you how this amazing art form has changed my life, in so many positive ways, and how through this challenge i've met so many wonderful, like-minded people who are so very supportive and encouraging and push me to work harder and create art!

So if you're just joining us, you're in for an amazing ride!

Where to begin?  Have you even done any kind of zentangling before?  That's probably the best place to start.  You can find out more information by visiting the Zentangle website

If you'd like to learn how, you can find a Certified Zentangle Teacher (or CZT™), like me, in your area by checking out this site:  - any one of those teacher will be able to teach you the basics and philosophy of Zentangle.  These amazing people have gone directly to the source and have taken the training from Rick Roberts and Maria Thomas, the founders of Zentangle. (If someone is offering classes and they are NOT on this list, they have not been certified.)

You can also purchase official Zentangle materials through them, or through the Zentangle Store

However, many people who participate in this challenge have not taken a class, and even more people who participate do not have a blog - so don't let that stop you.

There's also a wealth of instructions on how to create some of these tangles on Linda Farmer's website here: as well there are some fantastic blogs written by fellow CZTs and Zentangle enthusiasts - and the best way to find some of those is to click through the blogs of the challenge participants!

A traditional zentangle is done on a 3 1/2"x  3 1/2" square, but for these challenges you can do any size that you feel comfortable with and any type of medium you feel comfortable with.   The important thing is to try, to jump in and get your feet wet.

A typical challenge consists of me recapping my week, and then the challenge is issued about halfway through the post.

Please do join in, even if you don't have a blog or don't want to post your creation, you will benefit from a weekly practice.

There is no jurying of work - no judging, no worrying about needing to make it GOOD ENOUGH!!

Did you make it? Yes?
Did you follow the challenge? Yes?
Congratulations, it is good enough.

People from all over the world do the challenge... and participants vary in age from 6 to 96!!

The only RULES to the challenge:
1. IF You are posting a link - Please only post links pertaining to your challenge entry, and not to drive traffic to your site.
2. Use the zentangle method as best you can
3. Have fun.

That's it!

C'mon in, the water's fine!
